ID me a movie (Ending described)

Sorry this is quite vague but this is an American movie made I think sometime in between 1990-2000. The ending of the film has the film's protagonist - a male (with blonde hair) coming to the realization that life is like bread (or a loaf of bread). He packs his stuff in a red truck and heads into downtown LA at the end of the film? My friend here at work described this to me and I pretty much had no idea of the film - anyone?

If he had talked about his evil hand (rather than bread) before packing his stuff into his red truck and driving off into downtown Los Angeles, I'd say it was the episode "Dead End" from Angel: Season 2.

Yes, that is a great little movie called Floundering, starring James LeGros, and with cameos from a host of well-known actors from the independent scene. Highly recommended.
