Netflix barcode theory is bunk
I don't know if this has been posted already, but here is a link to a news video which shows the "secret" method Netflix uses to process discs at their processing centers: http://www.kfmb.com/flv/video_pop?startID=38163
And the secret is........cheap labor!!!
There's no need to put your disc in rightside-up or upside-in or barcode-out-the-window, because someone getting paid minimum wage will rip open your envelope and manually process the disc.
No wonder its taking them so long to send me my next disc. With >4 million subscribers and only 37 processing centers, there's only so much that manual labor can accomplish.
Knowing this, I might start enclosing little pieces of candy or other treats for these people to help brighten their incredibly monotonous day.

DVD Talk Special Edition
damn! you gotta be kidding me...and here I am, carefully, meticulously inserting each DVD with the barcode facing out in the envelope window hoping that my miniscule effort would be appreciated and processed faster to ship new ones out. Those rat bastards!!
