How long does it take to download stuff on an XBOX 360?

I got it last night (to update my other thread) and the updates downloaded pretty fast but I tried to download a Madden demo and a fight night demo and it got to 5% downloaded and stayed there forever. I cancelled it after about 5 or 6 minutes with no change in the screen. Is that too quick for me to cancel? Does it take a while to do that because it was free? Or if I'm downloading the games I purchase from XBOX Live arcade is it quicker?

Well, the demos are like 500+ MB....so, how long does it take you to D/L something like that on your PC? Usually add a few more minutes for the 360. I think it took me like 15 minutes or more for the Fight Night Demo.

Once it hits 5% click cancel. Then click "download again." Watch your status bar magically jump to 50%!

Not sure what the deal is, but I click cancel at least once on everything I d/l. Seems to go faster.

I've cancelled mine a few times and have never seen the progress jump. It's odd, sometimes trying to d/l a movie trailer (780p) can take 30+ minutes, but I d/l the Fight Night demo in less than 10. I usually d/l something after I'm done playing and let the console run, I wish you could stack downloads somehow, that would be helpful.

It does seem much slower on the Xbox 360 for downloading, but that might be due to the wireless network(802.11g).

The worst part is that you can't exit the download screen and play an Xbox Live Arcade game or mess around in the dashboard.

The jump to 50% thing is a glitch. It does not increase your download speed. I find that downloads from Xbox Live are fast. It all depends on the quality of the connection from your ISP (and to a degree whether you are connectingly wirelessly) and how busy the Live servers are.

I usually let Xbox download big demos before dinner or before I am heading out for a while.

It helps to not got them during busy times.
