The Poseidon Adventure : Special Edition ----> 5/9/06

From dvdactive.com:

Title: Disaster Flicks
Starring: N/A (Various)
Released: 9th May 2006
SRP: Prices TBC

Further Details:

Fox Home Entertainment has sent over artwork for special editions of The Towering Inferno which stars Steve McQueen and Paul Newman, and The Poseidon Adventure which stars Gene Hackman. Each of these classic disaster movies will be available to own from the 9th May this year. I'm afraid Fox has yet to reveal the disc specs for either of these releases, but we'll bring you further details just as soon as we get them. Stay tuned for that. For now though, here's our first look at the official region one package arwork:

The menus and extras desperately need improvement! We've suffered too long.

I'll be picking up Poseidon Adventure. I love the Towering inferno as well, but find it hard to watch nowadays as I keep waiting for O.J.'s character to stab somebody.

I love those movies. I remember Poseidon Adventure was the first PG movie I ever saw when I was a kid. I thought it was so cool. Had a crush on Pamela Sue Martin whom I read is doing a commentary with Carol Lynley and Stella Stevens. If only they could have gotten Hackman. I guess most of the other cast members are no longer with us but it would be cool for them to find Eric Shea.
Towering Inferno was always cool to me too. I loved it so much that I had my Mom take me over to San Francisco and show me the buildings they filmed in (Hyatt Regency and Bank American Building. It was so cool.
Also saw Carol Lynley and Stella Stevens and a screening a few years ago. Both very cool.
Can't wait for both of these.

Back when Poseidon Adventure came out, the big multiplexes weren't around yet. The General Cinema was a 2 screen theater which was a big deal back then. I remember hearing of people having to wait in line an hour to get tickets. We waited a few months before we went to go see it. I think I was in 7th ot 8th grade. I have the bare bones version but will probably upgrade when the price is right.

I saw, The Poseidon Adventure at the Drive-In, when I was a kid with my Mom and a friend of hers....I remember when Mrs Rosen (Shelley Winters) died, I laid down in the back seat and sobbed....it's a shame Shelley Winters wasn't part of a commentary track for this before she passed away.

Well, all right! I've been waiting for anamorphic re-releases of The Towering Inferno and The Poseidon Adventure for a few years, and now it's finally going to happen.

I broke down and bought both of the non-anamorphic releases a couple years ago, but I knew I'd end up double dipping. I love both of these movies. The trailer I saw for the remake doesn't look half bad, either.

Looks like a nice slate of extras. Did anyone see the AMC Backstories for either of these? Were they good? The other ones I've seen were terrific.

Great to see that dvdtalks review of Poseidon & Towering Inferno deemed them Collector Series Quality. Now if they just have a ticket in them for the Summer release of Poseidon that'd be perfect but since these are Fox & Poseidon is Warner it won't be happening.
