Stargate SG-1: The Alliance is cancelled

This made my monday even worst. The first time this happened it was back in August, as seen in the thread:

http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread....light=stargate

However, it came back to life shortly after, and looked even better. Two international trailers, Hundreds of screen captures, thousands of alpha testers and 10's of thousands of fans later, it looks dead. Again. I really hope it doesn't stay that way, but there is a petition going around, and it has almost 10,000 signatures. If you would like to look at these, or contribute your own signature, the link is here.

I was looking forward to it, but it's doubtful it would have worked on the 360 anyway. Oh, well.

It was quite the dog at E3 this past May. Even with a full-sized Stargate setup
and three scantily clad women to have your picture taken with beneath it, barely
anyone even gave it a second look. Sorry to say, but it was a very bland-looking
run of the mill FPS (at least at that point).

One crappy FPS canceled...

One hopeful MMO announced:
Joystiq:
Stargate Worlds

Although this partnership between Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment and MGM Interactive started in September 2005, it's only been formally announced today. The two are teaming up to bring Stargate Worlds, a massively multiplayer title set in the Stargate SG-1 universe, to life.

The game is apparently "an MMO that provides players with a form of exploration, adventure and ranged combat set in worlds of historical human time periods, alien environments, and outer space locations". It sounds interesting on paper, but bringing a popular franchise to life as an MMO isn't an easy task.

This is a huge dissapointment. I remember when the "1st" game was anounced and the possibilties for this was endless. When some of the first sceen shots came out they were impressive. Things were rolling along, then nothing for awhile , then "Wam" the game was cancelled and pulled from the Dev due to lack of progess. There were hopes of having another picking it up. It's a real shame since everyone knows that if this was made and developed right it would be a hit.
