Films Critics Hate, Fans Love?

What movies were panned by critics but praised by movie buffs?
I can think of one- Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Fight Club didn't get much love, but it's considered something of a classic by fans.

Hudson Hawk was universally panned by most critics as the worst movie of the year, but was one of my favorites (as well as a few others from the Universaly Hated... thread). Read somewhere that the critics ganged up on this movie because they didn't get special treatment at the screening or something. Shows their integrity as press...

Fight Club actually got relatively good critical response for the most part, 81% at rottentomatoes.com and I recall it showing up on numerous established critics top 10 lists.

Boondock Saints is one that seems to have caught on despite horrible critical reviews.

I don't think critics supported "Armageddon", but the general response was people liked it. On this board is a different story...

This could be pretty much said for every other movie that grosses over one-hundred million at the domestic box office.

Teen sex comedies.
Movies with a built-in audience due to adaptation from another medium, particularly video games, but in many cases comic books or television.

Dumbass comedies that star Will Ferrell, Adam Sandler, and Rob Schneider.

Sandler and Schneider yes, Ferrell not so much. "Anchorman" and "Elf" both got mostly positive reviews from critics and did well at the box office, too. His subsequent efforts -- "Bewitched" and "Kicking and Screaming" -- failed both places.

Oh, I agree, I was talking more about the idiot fanboys who quote the movie incessantly for months and months.

Howard the Duck. Bashed by critics, but some people love the movie (why I have no clue).
