Penn & Teller Bullshit given 4th and 5th season orders from Showtime

I know many were down on S3, but I think there were some pretty decent episodes. Looking forward to S4, although I may just wait for the DVDs (or maybe sign up one month and catch all the S4 episodes at once on VOD) since I don't watch anything else on SHO.

S4 premieres Monday April 3 at 10 pm ET.

I just hope they have some good ideas and don't phone it in like last season.

Got the first two seasons on DVD, and am probably going to pick up the third. I would prefer that they did shorter higher quality seasons than having more episodes containing filler.

The more interesting news, IMO, is that the show will now be an hour long.

Great! I have been reading individuals' posts here and there on various sites (including P's&T's Showtime message board) that the show was renewed but none cited any reliable source so I didn't give them credibility. This is obviously the real deal.

It's especially heartening that the show will be an hour, a much needed change. It's a much welcome trade-off for fewer shows (10 instead of 13).

But Season 3 did mostly (not completely) suck. I assume they are aware of that and will work to make Seasons 4 and 5 better.

Keep in mind that just because it is an hour doesn't mean that they will cover just 1 topic over that hour.

Good to hear. Love this show.

For those jonesin' for more Penn in the meantime, he's got a daily radio show: http://penn.freefm.com/. I just found out about it recently. Kinda sucks for me, though, since I don't live in one of his markets and can't listen to an internet stream of the show since it's on while I'm at work. I do get the podcasts, but they are mostly just segments of the show and are erratically updated.

I hope they try to keep it focused. I watched a rerun of the "Conspiracy Theories" episode last night and it was all over the place. A half hour is too short for some of the broader topics.

Yeah, Season 3 was so so. I liked about half the episodes and I agree they needed to go deeper on many of the topics. Maybe with Season 4 they can go deeper on some of the stories they have done in the past. That fucking Sylvia Brown could easily be an hour show. Larry King had the lying bitch on his show again recently and how obvious con artists like that are allowed to skate really pisses me off.

I'd like to see a show on SATAN.

It's a fascinating topic, with a lot of different angles ... The West Memphis Three, satanic ritual abuse, and demonic possession for starters.

Good news. Like others have said, I hope that by going an hour they'll expand on their topics. Last season the typical episode had 10 minutes of content, and 20 minutes of Penn Gillette ranking while Teller goofed off in the background.

From a post on the P&T Showtime site:

Penn Has announced a few topics for season 4 on his radio show including:

Astrology
Prostitution
Virginity
Cryptozoolgy (Big Foot, Nessie)
Boy Scouts
Death Penalty

He also mentioned that they might do an episode on scientology in season 5.
Pretty decent topics, I think.

Might as well lump virgins in with Cryptozoology and just call the show "Things that don't exist."
