Do you still buy popcorn @ the movies?

and candy and soda, etc...

Just wondering if people out there still practice this...what with prices, health, etc...

I do sometimes, but I don't think it is quite the same as when I was a kid.

No, i pay my $5.50 for my ticket and that's it. Everything else is too overpriced.

HELLA YES. It's overpriced, but I likes me movie theater popcorn. No butter.

For a special move, I'll absolutely go all out. Only when I'm in the U.S. though. Only American gooey movie popcorn butter will do it for me.

Trivia: In South Korea, I've been to theatres that give you microwave bags of popcorn. You can also have dried buttered squid. And American movie popcorn butter is actually vegan, as it usually has no real butter.

I will get a drink or popcorn from time to time. Sometimes I just feel like having it. Sometimes I don't.

Ocasionally. Most popcorn has been sitting for a while though. I don't care for that after spending 8.50 for a small popcorn.

Sometimes popcorn, but I bring in my own soda and candy. I can't remember the last time I went to a movie and didn't have Starburst.

The best value is the kids meal...A nice little bit of popcorn, some mini-M & Ms and a soda for $5.00. Its either that or I sneak a kashi bar in and get a diet coke.

I depends....actually I guess the answer would be no on popcorn. However, I get quite a few FREE popcorns at AMC using the movie watcher card. I think I've got like 3 or 4 free popcorn coupons I gotta use in the next few weeks. If I don't have time to eat a before the movie then I'll blow $$$$ on a hot dog deal and/or pretzel then I'll add the free popcorn for fiber.

I don't usually. Normally, when I go to the movies, I'll go to dinner right before, so I'm full for the movie. Besides, I'm not a big fan of movie theater popcorn; I prefer to make my own at home.

Large popcorn. No butter.

However, my refreshment is a Snapple Mint Ice Tea from home.

One of the reasons I go to the theater instead of waiting to screen it on my home setup is the popcorn. I buy a shirt that gets me a free regular corn when I bring it and a cup that I pay $1 for refills. Takes 5 movies til the corn is free (and i see much more than that) and the cup is gravy.

I have a Whirlypop at home as well, but just doesn't compare IMHO. (And the chain I go to makes it fresh so it's not old like I think I read above.)

Tuesday nights - 50 cent bucket night. You bring the bucket. Load up on cheap popcorn for the movie, and then refill it on the way out. It's very good over the next week when the butter has a chance to 'soak' in, plus you've got the good movie theater popcorn (with that good butter taste that the microwave kind just can't match) while you watch your DVDs in your own home theater.

Yeah, the free coupons from the AMC movie watcher card is pretty much the only time I get popcorn or a drink at the theatre, I'd rather have more money for more movies.

Yeah, I always get the combo with the large corn, drink and soda, usually for around 10 bucks. If I remember to, I sneak in some sunflower seeds to get me thru after the corn is gone. Yep, I eat a lot.

Nope.

1. Don't like popcorn.
2. Concessoins are two damn expensive (no killer deals at the theaters I frequent).

I just take in my own snacks if I'm hungry/thirsty, but that's rare as I can go 2 hours without eating or drinking most of the time. I tend to catch movies right after lunch or dinner most of the time anyway.

Never. I like popcorn, but eating it only goes along with "mindless action films" to me, and those never draw me to the theatre anymore. If it's a movie I expect to love, I don't want to be doing something else while I watch.

I ordered a small diet coke recently for 4.25 (gotta love new york prices!) and it was the size of a large. It was huge. So ridiculous...

Oh, I would never buy any popcorn... I use to work at a theater back in the day.
The way the popper is maintained and how they use old popcorn which they store in bags. Nasty.

Yes, because that butter oil deathsauce tastes so damn good!

Though I almost never go to the movies anymore. I may see 2 or 3 films a year in the theater.

Fuck that. I'll sneak in my own Mr. Pibb and Red Vines because it's crazy delicious.

Historically:
soda - seldom (the ocasional small or kid sized)
candy - once in a while
popcorn - always

Now:
soda - never; way too $$, and the sizes are ridiculous. I don't want to have to pee 3/4 of the way through the film and I don't need all those empty calories.
candy - never
popcorn - once in a while. It's also way too $$, unhealthy, and often crappy, but at the right theaters & if I'm in the right mood, it's so goooood. Yes, I'd like a little butter, please (real butter only).

Before marriage & kids I used to see a movie almost every week. Now I am lucky to see 5-10 in a year. So wen i do go it usually for a film I really want to see so I usually splurge and get a coke and popcorn.
