Hary Potter films reviewed by Christian websites
Im sure this has been a topic before, but I briefly searched and didnt see it.
Basically, I am wondering if anyone can clear this up for me. First off, I am a christian, but I have a problem with the christian reviews of Harry Potter. I just dont see their issue and think it is hypocritical.
They give bad reviews (VERY OFFENSIVE rating) to Harry Potter and say that wizards and witches are all evil, BUT they love Lord of the Rings (AVERAGE rating...only criticized violence), Wizard of Oz, Cinderella and so on...
"...They try to do good things and defeat evil, but in reality, there is no such thing as a good witch or wizard....The Bible tells us that any power that doesn't come from God is evil. So, for our own protection, God tells us not to do these things"

"The Lord of the Rings begins it story with Gandalf (Ian McKellen) the wizard arriving to help celebrate Bilbo Baggins (Ian Holm) 111th birthday."

Can any christians out there who also have this belief please explain?? Why are the wizards/witches in some movies ok, but not in Harry Potter?? Why cant we all just agree that its fantasy/entertainment only??

Yes, as a Christian myself I find those reviews pretty ridiculous, to be fair there are some good reviews on that site (Munich, Fight Club, etc) but they are almost always guest reviewers.
But take heart, Christianity Today (and others) offer more level-headed reviews of the HP films.
