Title pretty much sums it up - do I have to buy the complete trilogy or is there a way to purchase them separately (besides ebay or half.com)?
I'm not interested in owning return of the jedi.

Its not that expensive, just buy the set and be done with it. Otherwise you will be buying a used copy and not getting the fourth disc. Granted if you buy the new set you do not get it anyways.
The new 3 disc set is only 35 shpped and the 4 disc is 45 shipped. I mean that is about the same a two new release movies. Plus these go on sale pretty often.

I'm always amazed at these threads, at the lengths people are willing to go to avoid buying Return of the Jedi, or Godfather Part 3, or Temple of Doom. Are they really that bad?
Anyway, your best bet is either to buy them used on Half, Ebay, or a pawn shop, or just buy the full trilogy and then sell the offending DVD.

BTW, I've seen the bonus disc at Hollywood Video used for $10.

Thanks all - you're starting to convince me to just buy the set.
Jedi isn't horrible or anything, It's just not a film that I would watch often. My set would consist of:
A new Hope
Empire
ROTS

Back to topic: I agree that it will be cheaper to just buy the set and then sell off any parts you aren't interested in. I have never seen the films sold individually even used. You'll end up paying as much if not more than the set, and you'll get the cool bonus disc. My $.02

En vacance
Jedi contains the greatest space battle in human history, the final confrontation, and Jabba's Palace and its completely badass escape...
I just wish the 77,80,83 originals would be released each as 2-discers (2nd disc extras) with the same packaging as the Warner 2-discers and original poster art for the covers.
I can dream..

I just spent this past Christmas week watching Episodes 1-5 and Clones Wars and stopped right there. I could not get up and put ROTJ in my DVD player.

That said, I really like Jedi and it has some great scenes.
"This is your last chance, Jabba. Free us... or die." Heck, yeah.

I just watched Jedi this weekend and enjoyed it all the way through. I can't fathom being a Star Wars fan and missing out on the crucial stuff that Jedi has.

I remember when the original release came out, all the blockbusters eventually sold off the movies individually, including the bonus, without the box...
Anyways, if you don't want to buy the whole set, you could scour around some used DVD places to see if you can pick them up cheap...

Return of the Jedi may be my least favorite of the OT, but I still like to watch it now and then. I can't imagine not owning the complete set. Seems stupid to me but oh well.
