Memoirs of a Geisha ----> 3/28/06 (rumored)

From thedigitalbits.com Rumor Mill:

1/18/06

Here's a few more anticipated street dates for upcoming titles: Watch for Disney to announce their animated Chicken Little for release on 3/21 any day now. Meanwhile, Sony is expected to debut its Memoirs of a Geisha on 3/28. And look for Sony's Fun with Dick and Jane on 4/11.

TOO soon.

However, I PRAY to God that Sony includes the theatrical trailer on the disc.

Of course, it would also help to have the preview for Marie-Antoinette on the disc.

unrated?

Hopefully there will be an unrated cut of the film, when I saw it parts seemed to have been cut out or rearranged to get a PG-13 rating.

Nowadays the Unrated/Extended version has become so common that I really don't care anymore. It's pretty much inevitable for almost every film that gets released or double dipped on DVD. I wouldn't be surprised if Memoirs PG-13 version comes out first and an extended cut comes out 6 months to 1 year later.

I'm still waiting for the "Unrated" version of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

This will be a purchase...Although kind of a bland movie, the love of the book, and the actors in it and the "look" of the film is what will have me buying it.

From thedigitalbits.com:

Just a quick update for you... as we first reported in The Rumor Mill, Sony has officially announced the DVD release of Memoirs of a Geisha for 3/28 (SLP $28.96). The 2-disc set (available in separate anamorphic widescreen and full frame versions) will include audio commentary (with director Rob Marshall and choreographer John DeLuca), a second production audio commentary (with costume designer Colleen Atwood, production designer John Myhre and editor Pietro Scalia) and 11 behind-the-scenes featurettes (including Sayuri's Other Journey: From the Novel to the Screen, The Road to Japan, Geisha Bootcamp, Building the Hanamachi, The Look of a Geisha, The Music of Memoirs, A Geisha Dance, The World of Geisha, The Way of the Sumo, Rob Marshall and A Day with Chef Nobu Matsuhisa). A UMD version for the PSP will also be available the same day.

And now I know I'll have to buy Bewitched in the future to have the trailer.

I don't like it.

They should have just kept the theatrical art.

Also, they should have the MadTV Memoirs spoof on the disc, either as a feature or an easter egg.

Too many freakin' heads in the artwork. They should leave the main head only and do away with the rest.

Love the book. Love the movie. Hate that cover. Ugh.

to the 2 disc set! This will be one that I can guarantee I'll actually watch EVERY extra.
