Could someone help me with the concept behind GODSEND? I didn't get it.

Hi all!
I just watched GODSEND with Robert De Niro, Greg Kinnear, etc. even though I did read the bad reviews. And the movie was bad, of course, but what frustrated me most was that I'm not sure I understand the central concept of the horror film. . .
SPOILERS SPOILERS
The cloned Adam Two starts having visions and behaving badly when he turns 8 - the same age Adam One died. His memories are of Zachary, who I'm guessing was De Niro's kid, who also died. Adam One is a clone of Adam Two, so why does he have Zachary's memory? Or, did De Niro's character inject his kid's DNA with Adam One's DNA? Or is Adam Two a clone of De Niro's kid and not Adam One?
END SPOILER ALERT
This movie is really bad - but I want to get what the writers were getting at with this turkey. Thanks!
