Last Holiday - quick review

Queen Latifah plays Georgia Byrd, a department store employee who finds out that she has about 3 weeks to live, so she decides to live it up (cashing in her bank account and bonds) with her last holiday.

Director Wayne Wang could have made this a sappy film, but thankfully it strikes a good balance between comedy and drama, and it results in a reaffirming look at life and getting what you want out of it.

I give it 3 stars, or a grade of B.

Spoil the ending for me, with spoiler tags of course.
Does she die? Or do they pull a Pretty Woman and make an ending that the audience will like?

Ebert and Roeper totally fell over themselves commenting on their love for the film.

I'll wait for the DVD, but I am eager to see it.

Yeah, the part on the commercials where they have LL Cool J's character falling for Queen Latifah had me rolling.

How can you not like a movie that has Queen Latifah and Gerard Depardieu in it?

I think the bigger question here is does anybody remember when Wayne Wang wasn't a sell-out and actually made good films?

Spoiler:
No she doesn't. She lives happily ever after with LL Cool J.

Re: Last Holiday - quick review

Just started the film and need to finish it later. So far it's kind of cute. But question, what department store has a doctor on site let alone an advance medical facility like that? Queen Latifah bumps her head and LL Cool J carries her to see a doctor within the store. Where she gets x-rayed and then an MRI (!??) I literally laughed out loud at that.

That’s why JC Pennys filed for bankruptcy. Spending cash in the wrong areas of the stores.
