9 to 5 Sexist, Egotistical, Lying, Hypocritcal, & Bigot Edition ----> 4/4/06

From dvdactive.com:

Further Details:

Fox Home Entertainment has announced a special edition of the 1980 comedy Nine to Five which stars Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Dolly Parton and Dabney Coleman. This Sexist, Egotistical, Lying, Hypocritcal, & Bigot Edition will be available to own in seperate widescreen and full screen releases from the 4th April, priced at around $19.98 a piece. Each will carry English DTS 5.1 and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround tracks, along with a commentary by Producer Bruce Gilbert and actors Jane Fonda, Dolly Parton and Dabney Coleman, a Nine @ 25 featurette, ten deleted scenes, a Remembering Collin Higgins feature, a Singing Nine to Five Karaoke feature, a gag reel, the original theatrical trailer, and an inside look. This has to be the winner of the shittiest DVD title ever. This is just plain stupid.

scott...dumb comment, man. That added absolutely nothing to this discussion.

As for 9-5...one, I can't understand why this DVD gets the DTS treatment. Two, I can't figure out why it's getting a special edition. And to top it off, it's got the stupidest name for a DVD...ever.

Title is terrible, but I love the movie. I'll be in line the day it comes out to buy it. Actually, come to think of it, I may be the whole line to buy it.

Man, what is your problem? You are threadcrapping in all my posts for no reason. For your information, I recieve most of the new releases info on My Yahoo RRS. So what? I'm passing foward that information, giving credit to the websites, so people like you and me, who collect DVDs, know when X dvd is being released. Really, what is wrong with that?

Don't sweat it dx23, cinephan and I will be thanking you as we're standing in line. Though, he'll probably buy the only copy in the store.

With the exception of the "S,E,L,H B" tag on the top, I don't have a problem with the cover. Wonder why Lily didn't participate in the commentary.

I'm sick of these lame SE titles. ENOUGH ALREADY! Some marketing weenie thought their idea was cute and apparently no one with any taste stepped in to stop it.

Crazy title aside, that's some pretty nice artwork there. Well done, appropriate designers.

Sexist, Egotistical, Lying, Hypocritcal, & Bigot Edition
OK, this shit's officially got to stop NOW!

At first, I thought this was a joke, but then I see it's for real? Some genius in marketing actaully approved this???

They're just freaking Special Editions. It's like having to listen to some lame-ass at the office who thinks he's funny, but it's freaking printed on the cover of your DVD art!

Looks like they are taking a page from Paramounts dumbly names SE's of movies (Clueless, Airplane, Ferris Bueller)... by naming one of theirs the same way... I can understand why they would pick this quote since the movie revolves around Dabney Colemans character being such an ass... but it is still stupid

I never imagined there'd be a special edition of this (obligatory stupid title mention). I really liked this movie as a kid. I'd love to get this, but I do already own the first, and for nostalgia, I guess that's enough.

This "I think I'm clever a marketeer" title crap has got to stop!
Isn't this FOX's first attempt at this too? So this makes what, 3 studios that do this now! The only bright spot for the future I can see is that Warner(the best studio out there) WILL NOT do this. Well, I can't imagine them doing it, they better not! I think they have too much respect for their catalog, it's pretty evident in the releases they do.

OTOH, the cover art is decent. At least it not a bunch of floating heads and cheesy artwork.

scott1598, this comes across as being quite rude. If you meant it as a joke, then a smilie might have been helpful. Next time, please think about how your comments will sound before you post.

Damn! If people aren't complaining about floating heads or cheesy artwork or stupid SE titles, would there be nothing to post? There are some GREAT DVD Cover sites on the internet that you can either download replacement covers for these dreaded SE titles or get the cover elements to make your own professional looking covers! Open Photoshop, get some legal paper and get to work!! Geez!!

ON topic: Great news! I, for one, am glad to hear of the DTS soundtrack. The original release's sound left a lot to be desired -- there's a low level hiss throughout the entire movie; it's like listening to a VHS! What's the problem with this title being released in DTS? You guys talk like there's a DTS annual quota and this title is taking it away from some other film!

I don't want to sound like a misogynist, but with all the bitching around here, you'd hardly guess that this was a male dominated site!
