Good horse movies for an 8 year old girl?

I was thinking of buying a couple of horse movies as a gift for a girl's birthday party that my son'll be going to, she really likes horses.

I can only think of:
Black Stallion
Black Stallion Returns
The Man from Snowy River
National Velvet
The Red Pony

Any others? I'm looking to spend ~ $15 at DDD, they have a Black Stallion / Black Stallion Returns 2 pack for $14.04 but was wondering what options were out there.

Dreamer would have been a good one, unfortunately it is not yet available on DVD.

You should be able to find Black Beauty in the Wal-Mart bargain bin for $5.50, i got mine from there a while back.
There is also a My Friend Flicka/Thunderhead Son of Flicka two-pack available that you might want to look into.

Seabiscuit, but I feel it might be too violent in one or two parts (particularly the boxing scene and the leg breaking scene)

If that was the subject line of an email, it would've gone straight to spam!

How about the Godfather? Or Animal Farm. Both feature horses.

Or if you want some serious suggestions, check out this page...

Clash of the Titans: another movie may have a horse, but can it fly?

The Neverending Story (okay, maybe not...)

Do you really think she is old enough for one? Damn liberal parents these days.

In all seriousness. Sea Biscuit has to be one of the best of all time about a horse. I remember The Horse Whisperer being pretty good too. The last thing I can think of is that Dakota Fanning movie that just recently came out. Ebert and Roeper gave it thumbs up.

I can't believe no one said "Hot To Trot," with Botcat Goldthwait, featuring John Candy as the voice of the horse.

I mean come ON people...

Then I'd add one of my favorite movies, Let It Ride but that is as much about horses as it is about scumbags. It's rated PG-13 but that's a soft PG-13 - Germany says it's OK for kids 6 and over.

How about that one filmed a couple of months ago on that farm outside Seattle? All the kids in Germany are raving about it.

Felicity: American Girl Adventure. I had to sit through most of this movie with my niece over Christmas. It's a wholesome movie.
