You're almost better off just buying the Do The Right Thing: Criterion Collection.

Lee was on CSPAN recently, doing a Q&A at a book signing. Someone asked about dvds and he said he's recorded a commentary for Jungle Fever and that She's Gotta Have It will be out this year for its 20th anniversary.

Does that mean I should pickup do the right thing before the Criterion goes OOP (which I am guessing it will)

It won't go out of print. Do The Right Thing has been available from Universal for quite awhile already.

Flippers suck but I'm guessing this will sell for $20ish when it's released which is tempting for me.

I guess it's better than five films on one disc ala the Bela Lugosi set.

I'm sure the 'white man' is behind it.

Cover artwork here . So it seems that this set is now part of Universal's Frachise Collection.

I'll pick it up. I'd like to have some Spike Lee films in my collection and for twenty bucks (plus the free ticket for Inside Man as DVDactive says) it'll be just fine.

Nice artwork, and Clockers and Do the Right Thing are excellent films.

With a likely street price of $19.99 it will be hard to pass this up, even though I do hate flippers.

I just got this from Best Buy. Out of the 10 or so sets they had, only 2 had the sticker on the front advertising the Inside Man free ticket. So I got one of those. The ticket is for $7.50.

I picked one up, too, though I had a gift card to buy it with. There were very few $7.50 movie tickets when I moved to L.A. in 2000, I don't know where they exist at the moment, even for a matinee. The ticket that came with the special edition of miss congeniality was for up to the full amount of whatever my ticket cost.

just a note that the old OOP box set is being sold at wal mart for 19.96 now. It only has 3 of the 5 movies, but if your opting for do the right thing criterion your only out one title, and no flippers

Cheap and shoddy. I'm not wasting any more money on Universal DVD's.

Why can't all the studios just sell their DVD rights to Warners? They seem to be the only company (aside from Ciriterion) who knows how to produce DVD's worth buying.
