Forgive me forum, for I have sinned: Dropped "The Office" from my Season Pass

Since "The Office" is moving to Thursday nights, I have a dilema.

I work some Thursday nights.

I am a die-hard fan of "CSI" and "Everwood" and with "The Office" moving to 8:30 PM, I made the decision to drop "The Office" from my Season Pass. I have a two tuner TiVo and wish I had a third.

If I'm home, I will watch "The Office"... if not... oh well.*

It was a hard decision.

* Thank heavens for video iPods...... or 'various and sundry means'.

I guess this is one of the few benefits of having no WB affilate and getting all of my WB shows 1 day to 1 week later than normal in the middle of the night on my NBC channel. I wouldn't have a conflict in that time period, but I know I would have had problems in the past due to certain decisions made by execs but for this.

Everwood won't be back for a while, like March, IIRC.

Yeah to that.

You shouldn't drop the season pass, just move it to a lower priority. That way you will get The Office when it is on, but Everwood is in repeats or not on.

Also make sure your Everwood SP is set to First Run Only and make sure your Office SP is set to First Run & Repeats. NBC does tend to repeat this show occasionally, so you might catch it on a later date.

Doesn't The WB rerun Everwood on Sunday afternoons as part of their "easy view" gimmick?

That was a couple of seasons ago. New shows get that Sunday easyview spot now, like Supernatural (though the WB just got done with a marathon of Supernatural repeats this week).

Kind of off topic but for those who haven't seen the original and want to check it out check your PBS listings as it's supposed to start airing in January. I know here in Chicago the pilot airs next sunday, January 8th, at 10:00 on channel 11.

Excellent advice.

Drop CSI: XYZ. Several other shows indistinguishable from it are on about 10 times a week anyway. I have no clue what Everwood is, so I can't comment on keeping that over The Office.

AD is not quite as good as it's been in recent years, while The Office gets better every week. That's not heresy at all.

Also, Fox pulling AD for November sweeps and then cancelling it has dampened my excitement over the show a bit.

Double True!

... actually I watch and enjoy all four CSIs (I include w/oAT in their).

I added the SP back and set its priority low so that Everwood trumps it. Forgot that I could do that.

I assume the "8:30" is a typo? Since an 8:30 airing of the Office wouldn't conflict with a 9:00 CSI at all.

This year's CSI has been top notch. Back to the top of their game after a dismal season last year.

Yeah, don't miss that CSI. Because there just aren't any other forensic crime shows out there right now.

Sarcasm noted, but despite there being a dozen forensic shows out there, they all pale in comparison to the original.

8:30 Central for me. CSI is on at 8:00 Central.

This is what I don't understand about the whole "Tivo vs. Comcast DVR" debate.

On my comcast DVR there is no limit to the number of series I can "season pass." This alone was a huge selling point (well, I actually didn't have to buy it).

Not to mention It is dual tuner, I can record two shows at the same time and watch a third that is recorded.

Plus, there is a hack I used to add the "30 second skip" functionality.

Doug
