Ye gods, it's the year of "did we really need that?" sequels. Basic Instinct 2, Big Momma's House 2, Ice Age 2? I'm staying at home the next few months, it looks like...

FYI

Go For Zucker! - saw limited release last month (December)

the national rollout (delayed) of Mrs. Henderson Presents is January 13th

I thought 'The New World' was a January release, or are you not including that since it opened in NYC and LA at the end of December.

Though there are several films I'm looking forward to (Superman Returns, The Da Vinci Code, etc.), this year I'm just not as excited about the lineup as I was for '05. Maybe I'll be surprised. I thought the majority of the films I saw released in '05 were pretty good.

But now... no real products, fake products voiced by the Duff sisters?

Oy vey.

I agree. I'm already predicting that 2007 will be a bigger year for movies. I just don't see any "must see movies" on the list. Maybe Superman is THE must see movie. Even though it is possible that in May i will see a new movie each week.

Sony has continued clearing its crowded 2006 schedule by pushing back Jennifer Garner romantic comedy "Catch and Release" to early 2007. Its April 28th slot will instead be used for the Robin Williams comedy "R.V." which will be pushed back a month.

Fox is also giving a February 17th theatrical run this year to the previously DVD-bound, Eddie Murphy-less sequel "Dr. Dolittle 3". Lionsgate has pushed back "La mujer de mi hermano" to April, and finally Disney has delayed "Goal!" two months to May 12th.

If you only see one Samuel L Jackson airplane disater epic involving malevolent reptiles next year, it's pretty much gotta be Snakes on a Plane. Watching it will be like watching Pulp Fiction, Airplane, Posideon Adventure, and Anacondas all at the same time. I'm there, opening night...

...wearing that shirt.

The Visiting could be good. I believe it's an "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" type movie/remake.

Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig are the leads. I'm there. Craig impressed me in Munich.

He should really have a breakout year this year with Bond...much like Terrence Howard broke out in '05.

My most anticipated from 2006

Apocalypto (Wow - that trailer!)

Running With Scissors (Loved the book and Brian Cox is a favorite)

The Da Vinci Code (Wow - that trailer! Good book, too.)

The Departed (Scorsese & Nicholson)
