I liked the premise and the idea behind the film though sadly I have to admit that the final product is not as convincing as I was hoping it to be. The film plays heavily with the emotions (some of them pretty high) between Pakis and British and the possibility for a lasting love relationship...between two people with different religious backgrounds... To be honest the romance as depicted in the film simply does not work that well though Ken Loach is still a great director who knows how to be original.
On a side note the US DVD by Lions Gate is simply poor (to put it mildly)!!
