Death Race 2000

I haven't seen a thread about the Death Race 2000 SE DVD that comes out tomorrow (12/13). Is anyone else excited about it? Unlike the first one this one is apparently in widescreen, and has a commentary track.

Any thoughts? I think this is a hilarious movie, and I never get tired of it.

Well, I like this movie too. Very funny. I own it already, so I won't buy it again. Not really interested in the commentary or the extras. This is just a drinking game movie for me at least.

I've been waiting for a decent release of this movie; widescreen at the very least. But I thought I'd read that this release (as well as the new Disney Cormans that are coming out) are full screen, and still lousy looking? I'd love to be proven wrong...

According to amazon.com it's widescreen 1.78:1. Hopefully they're right.

The only place I could find that mentioned it was dvd-drivein, but they didn't give many details. I also own the full screen version, but to me it looks like it's meant to be shown in 1.85:1 (or 1.78).

I have the old version, so I'm interested in the quality on this new one. If anyone finds out, please post.

I have seen it and don't worry. The movie is enhanced for 16x9. Rock 'n' Roll High School is not

Got both & Big Bad Mama at lunchtime, haven't had a chance to watch (at work) but the back says R&RHS is enhanced for 16x9.

No... R&RHS isn't anamorphic, same non-anamorphic transfer as the previous release.

Can you tell me what, if anything, is new and/or what's been dropped on the R&RHS, compared to the Corman Classics release? Thanx

I loved DR2000, saw it for the first time only about 6 years ago in a cinema in Montreal which mostly showed older "classic" films

I hope this is widescreen as Ive held off buying it for ages

I picked this up today and it IS 16.9 enhanced and has closed captions/subtitles!

I'm going to hold off on Rock n Roll High School for the moment. Since I'm cautious if it is not-16.9 and uncut(previous dvd had a line or two missing). But if it includes captions I'll definitely pick it up sometime. So my girlfriend can enjoy the kickass film

Now I can't wait for the Piranha and Humanoids from the Deep releases if they are the same as Death Race in presentation.

I'm glad these Corman discs are getting slightly better editions (except for the unfortunate R&RHS), but what I am curious to hear is if anyone has heard anything regarding a new better edition of The Big Doll House. If you have, any info is appreciated. Thanks.

Has anyone seen Big Bad Mama with a slipcover similar to RNRHS and Death Race 2000? I've only seen it without the slipcover.

What is the big deal about slip covers? They have the exact same artwork as the keepcase!
