My Picks:

1. "Cannibal Holocaust" 25th Anniversary Edition...many have been holding on to hope for quite awhile for this ultimate and definitive 'CineSchlocker' set. And...the wait has been incredibly worth it.

For poeple like me who have never seen the movie, but has heard so much chatter about it, it was a must blind buy purchase. Even if the movie is riviled the world over, for a horror fan, this was a no brainer. Thus, when the announcement was made by Sylvester Stallone's son himself, Sage, and his Grindhouse films, fans clamored and prayed that the release would see the light of day. The light of day it did and it couldn't have been presented in a better set.

2-Discs of nastiness, crudeness, dismemberment, animal sacrifice, human sacrifice, exploration into sanity's requiem, and the most infamous movie making of all time. Ruggero Deodato wanted to shock the world and he did. The movie itself is grotesque, repulsive, and yet you can't look away (and afterall isn't that what shocking is all about?).

With interviews and commentary from the director, stars, and others, featurettes, remastered presentation, fandom exploits, collectibles, and so much more...this set is a genre fan's wet dream.

So those are my thoughts, now excuse me while I regurgitate my lunch!

1.5 Frank Miller's Sin City: Recut, Extended, Unrated ...this is an awesome set for one of my most favorite movies of 2005.
2. "Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Chosen Collection"...
3. "King Kong" (1933) 2-Disc Collector's Edition Tin...
4. "The Fly" CE...
5. "The Devil's Rejects" Unrated DC...
6. "Freaked" ...
7. "Saw" Uncut...
8. "Undead"...
9. "The Toxic Avenger: 21st Anniversary Gold Edition"...
10. "High Tension" Unrated...

Honorable Mentions:
11. "Audition" Uncut...
12. "American Psycho" Killer Collector's Edition...
13. "99 Women" DC...
14. "Plaga Zombies: Mutant Zone"...

ps) will e-mail when finalized

You're thinking too hard, Scott. Given Cannibal Holocaust tops your list -- that'd be your "CineSchlockers' Choice" nominee.

Gotta second the long-awaited R1 release of Cannibal Holocaust
but I realize I must e-mail in the nomination for it to count.

Too many could be number 1. Lots of great releases by NoShame, Blue Underground, Synapse, and Anchor Bay.

some of my favs this year:
-Sex & Fury (Panik House)
-42nd Street Forever
-Devil's Rejects DC
-Effects
-Your Vice is a Locked Room and Only I have the Key
-Street Trash

Thinking of one soon, then will email.

I sent in my vote for "The Fly: Collector's Edition". The picture looks great, excellent DTS track and there's a very nice, comprehensive 2 hour documentary and Cronenberg commentary. This is best in my book.

I'm gonna send in a vote for THE FLY... not only is it one of the best movies in the genre, the DVD was top notch. Great pictures, excellent DTS track and the Cronenberg commentary and documentaries make this a no brainer.

I've finalized a title-Fire & Ice from Blue Underground. The movie is decent, but the care in the A/V, the extras like the Painting with Fire documentary, rotoscoping featurette, have been the deciding points of interest to me. I think this award should go to a DVD release that highlights a rare or underappreciated title, not something new (although, there's a lot of great disc's out there).
Blue Underground seems to understand there's little interest out there for an unheard-of animation film, but with the talents of Bashki and Rosletta, they made an amazing retrospective extras that are actually worth watching.

Runner-up: 42nd Street Forever (Synapse)

In order to get a rough list together of what actually came out in 2005, does CineSchlock-O-Rama have a suggested list of discs eligible to be nominated?

I've yet to see Cannibal Holocaust, but my vote at this point would have to go for the Val Lewton set.

I suppose it isn't really fair to put up 9 movies against 1, but I think Cat People alone holds it's own amongst this year's best releases.

while i think i will still leave my #1 as CH, i can't believe i didn't leave a space for and think it has to go as 1.5, but...

"Frank Miller's Sin City": Recut, Extended, Unrated ...this is an awesome set for one of my most favorite movies of 2005. let the votes begin...
