What are you planning to watch on DVD over the Xmas holidays

Yes, I know it's early...but for some of us (students and teachers) the holiday is beginning shortly.

I plan on spending a good portion of the holiday on the couch and munching out with my family while watching some good DVDs.

Here are some things I'm planning to check out.

the priorities:
The Shield (The Complete Fourth Season)
24 (Season 4)

will also check out:
The Driver (Walter Hill film with lots of car chases)
Last Days (been holding that one off)
The Triplets of Belleville
Don't Go in the House (to truly get in the holidy spirit )
All things King Kong...the Kong Collection plus the campy King Kong Lives
The Damned
Once Upon a Time in China Trilogy
The Island (I really dug it...want to crank my sound system and enjoy)
Sin City Recut (of course)
Gremlins (holiday mayhem)

Some 80's comedies. Not sure which yet.

I took some vacation time during the holidays to catch up on my movies. I've got from the 17th to the 3rd or 4th off work. One or two of those days will be used to watch 24: Season 4 (my wife and I blazed through S1 & S2 on dvd and watched S3 on TV). However, the majority of the time, I'm going to try to clear out a bunch of Criterions from the "to-watch" queue. I think I can get through 3-5 movies a day during the break, and make a huge dent in my queue.

With 4 days off from work i am thinking of watching the Lord of the Rings EE's(one per day), although i planned to do the same thing last year yet they still sit on my shelf unwatched.
24 is tempting too, just got so many tv shows i am watching at the moment.

I'm off for 9 days at the holidays so it's anybody's guess as to what I'll watch during that lengthy a time period, cold outside but warm and cozy with my HT setup and DVD collection......Serenity is a certainty as it gets it's DVD release then.

Basically, I'll just be watching new stuff I got until I'm all caught up. Between great new releases, black friday deals, and the DDD sale I have over 60 new movies and about 8 new TV season sets since November 1, so it's pretty much all first time viewings right now, although I might slip a Christmas movie or two in there.

I just checked my Blockbuster Queue and it has been shipped . I had given up on it because when I added it to my queue the other day, it said "Long Wait".

Wizard Of Oz - 3 disc

Had the title for a few weeks now but wrapped up for an xmas present now.
Since i was a kid this has nearly always been shown on TV on a xmas here in the UK and inevitably always ended up watching it after the xmas dinner etc.
This time it will be a combination of tradition and technology

I'll definitely watch Elf and The Grinch (live version).

King Kong (original). And the new releases in December that I'll pick up: 40 Year Old Virgin, Cinderella Man, Fantastic Four, and The Island. Anything else will be a spur of the moment.

"Buloxi Blues" (I'm not exactly sure if that's spelled correctly!)- since that's the movie we watched together on our first Christmas (she picked it out) and I just got it for her on DVD

"Serenity"- Christmas present, or buy it myself, it will be watched!

And then whatever else we have time for and trying to play catch-up!

We're No Angels (1955 version)
Miracle On 34th Street (1947 version)
It's A Wonderful Life (of course!)
Mister Magoo's Christmas Carol

Christmas wouldn't be the same, without watching these 4 classics!

I can finally catch up on my unwatched movies. Since I'm having surgery I have an excuse to lay around for a few days.

I have in the pile (which I didn't have until last summer)
Wizard of Oz Special Edition
Kingdom of Heaven
Carlito's Way
Gladiator Extended Cut
Titantic 3-disc
Skeleton Key
Entire Hitchcock Collection
Batman Anthology
Half of the Friday the 13th Collection
Almost Famous Bootleg Cut
Boogie Nights
Blues Brothers
Devil's Rejects
Dogtown & Z-boys Doc.
Madagascar
The Fly 2-disc

Plus I'll add Cinderella Man, The Island, and some others to the pile and I want to at least rent Serenity and The Exorcism of Emily Rose.

Oh yeah, and King Kong, Syriana, Wolf Creek, Producers, and Narnia in theaters.

King Kong for me as well and if I can find the time I have been waiting to dive into the four-disc Ben Hur set. However since it seems like I'm only going to have a couple days off I don't know how much I'll get to watch.
