Night Gallery episode question
in the episode, The Dead Man, I remember a completely different ending--I just got the dvd set and I was surprised to see how this ends so differently from how I remembered it--I haven't seen it in 30 (?) years, but I've always described it to others as this:
the wife bangs on the coffin but nothing happens and everyone goes home. then later, the husband sees a figure coming up to the house and realizes it's the decaying corpse of the dead man. the wife runs to the door to let him in, while the friend tries to hold her back. the dead man bangs on the door and the wife screams, "let me go. let him in." the friend tries to tell her that he's been dead so long that his flesh is rotting. she says, "I don't care. I need to be with him." (remember, she's gone mad.) and the friend tells her that he shouldn't be alive. meanwhile, the husband gets something to bang out the command to send the dead man back, and he bangs the command on the table as the wife is fighting to open the door. just as she's about to pull the door open and let the rotting corpse in the house, the doctor completes the command and the banging from the dead man stops. the wife pulls the door open, but no one is there.
that's how I remember it. is this a plot from a different episode that I got mixed up??? any Night Gallery experts out there?
