So I saw this on ebay, hope it's okay to link to it:
HDMI to Dual(2) HDMI Video/Audio Y Splitter Cable *H2H*

Basically I have an hdmi out from cable and another hdmi out from my dvd player but only one hdmi in on my tv. Any ideas if this will muck up the picture? Or should I just buy it and try it out since it's so cheap hehe. It will beat unplugging and replugging when going from watching tv to movies I've seen the multi-hundred dollar ones but that's just insane.

I don't think you want to use this for two outputs to one source. Instead, I think it is meant to be used for one output to two sources. That is, if you wanted to display an HDMI-out DVDp on two monitors.

Seems like it would be a bad idea (PQ wise) to do what you are thinking. I could be wrong though...

In another thread, Spiky linked to a $35 (somewhere around there) HDMI switcher. I bookmarked it on my home computer (and can post the link tonight), because despite wondering about the quality, I think I'm going to pick one up.

I assume your tv also has component inputs? Just use the component inputs for the cable box and the HDMI for the DVD player. Quality should be the same, certainly better than using a cheap splitter.

Well it's one male and two females. The male goes into the tv and the two females accept the dvd player and cable. It would seem like in an ideal world its a digital signal being split up and there should be no quality loss?

I have hd digital cable and am using the hdmi with that and am using component on my dvd player. I wanted to get a new dvd player with upconversion and use the hdmi out on it. I've heard mixed results on upconversion so maybe I should just not rock the boat yet hehe.

Yeah, but that doesn't look like an ideal world. I would doubt it works well for splitting to 2 TVs. You definitely can't use it as a combiner for digital video. The display probably won't ever sync if you have both sources plugged in.

There's a switcher for under $50 at markertek.com. No idea of quality.

If your cable box has component out, just use that. There won't be any difference in quality, component-out versus HDMI-out.
