Rome - "Kalends of February" - *Season Finale*11/20

"Kalends of February"
Spoiler:
As a result of their arena exploits, Pullo and Vorenus have become heroes to the Roman rank and file, causing Caesar to reward those he normally would punish. Pullo's unexpected return to Vorenus' household is not appreciated by his former slave Eirene. Caesar decides to overhaul the Senate by adding some unexpected new faces, to the chagrin of the old guard. And Servilia hurdles the final obstacle in her ambitious revenge scenario, at Niobe's expense.

Good for HBO. In their show description they left out the big surprise spoiler no one will see coming!

I sure hope Caesar is back for season 2. Hopefully then we'll see the origin of his salad dressing.

Given how long it'll be if we have a season 2, it's the end of all ends. I've already forgotten about Deadwood, it's been way too long I've written it off. After tonight's Rome, HBO will be shut off tomorrow.

Wow...that was fast ep.

Cesar's murder=sick!!!! He didn't say: "Y tu Brute?", but his eyes conveyed that message rather well. Shame this is HBO and we must wait two years before seeing these characters again. Glad that both Titus and Vorenus made it through, though Lucius paid a terrible price. I also thought it was appropriate to have the last scene of the season feature Titus, as he was in the first scene of the season as well.

Overall, this was a great season of a great show, and I have high hopes for the next season, whenever that may be, but for now,

Actually just legend that he said that popularized by Shakespeare. Ancient sources say he said nothing or said in greek - "And (even) you, my son?"

Ouch, thats the only letdown after watching one of these HBO season finales. At least there were not any big cliff hangers from this one.

Excellent episode by the way. I was a bit worried they would cram too much into this one but it worked well. I would have liked to have heard some cold comments from Octavian about Ceazers death but I guess that would be getting a bit into next seasons plot.

Also forgot to add that the acting was excellent in this episode. So much was conveyed by the actors expressions and mannerisms rather than speech.

I want to say again, that the casting of everyone in this is insanely brilliant.

I Love Atia. I love her sneering looks.
Mark Anthony is amazing, brutus is a snivelling wreck of a man

I found Pullo's neatly packaged ending to be more than a bit implausible, but I loved the rest.

And speaking of saying a lot with a look, how about that look Octavian gave Servilla?

Time now to forget completely about the show just as I have done with the Sopranos for several years after every season.

I was expecting laser beams to shoot from their eyes during that scene!

Fantastic finale last night (although I do wish it ran the full hour). Time to forget about this show for the next year or so...

I agree it was excellent. The rage and hatred in Octavian's expression was nice. I was waiting for him to say something, as well, but it wouldn't be like Octavian to act in haste. He's much to calculative for that.

While I wish there was a quicker turn-around between S1 and S2 I also can understand the delay. This is a massive production requiring a lot of pre- and post production work.

Wow, can't believe they killed off a major character like Caesar. to the courageous writers of this fine program.

I think for next season Pullo should be named Emperor, with Octavian as his right hand man. That would so fucking rock.
