1st and Ten Complete Series (80 episodes) for under $20 at Walmart.com
I was informed of this deal through tvshowsondvd.com, but hadn't seen anyone on here talking about it. It's pretty wild. The item page boasts that it is $160 savings! And it has the entire run of the show, and comes out 11/15/05. I haven't seen 1st and Ten since it was on HBO. I am a big Donald Gibb fan so I was really excited to see this. Just figured people might want to know.

I just hope that the show isn't too compressed to cram all 80 of these episodes on 6 discs. I wonder if it will be the exact same quality that you would get if you wait and buy the individual sets. I'm looking forward to this but I'm also proceeding with caution as this is an unheard of price for a whole tv series. It almost sounds like Walmart is out to make a quick buck with an exclusive deal.

For me personally, quality on this show doesn't matter too much for me. The only similar thing to this that I've gotten before is the entire Ray Bradbury Theater collection - which was 65 episodes or something on 5 DVDs. And the quality was definitely not great - but it was good enough for me - and awesome for $25. If I was a huge 1st and Ten fan, I might wait, but I'm just a mild fan of the show mainly because of Donald Gibb's involvement - not that it isn't a good show though. I would be a little surprised if they did in fact do less-compressed DVDs for the separate releases. But who knows. I suppose there is also a possibility of a dual sided disc.

If this is anything like the last Wal-Mart exclusive (The TNA Epic Anthology wrestling set), ordering it online is the way to go. You never know if your local Wally World will ever get it in, and the minimum wage morons that work there aren't paid enough to care or try to find out for you.

Not really a savings considering the retail price is $19.96, not the $180.00 walmart says it is. Regardless, not bad for however many seasons.

It is weird, depending on the website you go to, seasons 1 and 2 are already released or are preorders for sometime in the next few months. But, as best as I can tell, 1 and 2 are both listed as having 2 discs each. So, if there were 6 seasons, that ought to be 12 discs. But, the physical dimensions of the package on the walmart site seem too skinny for 12 discs. Either way, if the deal is still there tomorrow, I'm ordering.

I just watched a few random samples of the show. Quality is very similar to the Ray Bradbury set; not terrible by any means, but not great either. Looks very similar to VHS quality. The sound seemed good; I didn't notice any distortion or hiss in the sections I watched.
Each of the six seasons comes on a separate two-sided disc; each side has 5-6 episodes. The DVD cases are a bit slimmer than standard amaray cases and hold a disc on each side. I noticed a few minor scratches from where the DVD holder on one side of the case touched the disc on the other. The scratches were very minor, though, and I doubt they will affect the playability of the discs.
For $20, it seems like a good deal, even with the lower video quality. I am (so far at least) pleased with the purchase.

This just came in the mail today. Noticed on the back of the box it read "Some scenes may have been altered from the original program" directly underneath "Contains some nudity and adult situations." Does this mean it has been edited for Walmart?
