Albert Brooks' Modern Romance (1980) finally being released on 1/24/06

Modern Romance is finally being released on 1/24/06. I personally think this is Albert Brooks' best film. It says that it is being released widescreen so here's to hoping that they give it an anamorphic transfer like the film deserves.

Cool. One of my favorite Albert Brooks movies. I love Bruno Kirby in this.

I can't wait, its the only Albert Brooks film I don't own and have never seen. Could never get my hands on the laserdisc.

Does anyone know why Mother is so expensive, its probably the only paramount movie that has never had a price drop. Was it just forgotten? Or can the studio have a deal with certain film makers or production companies that effect the selling price.

Mother isn't the only one...it seems that Paramount has misplaced a few catalog titles and left them in $29.99 MSRP hell, including Brooks' Real Life, 1970s classics Medium Cool & The Parallax View, and even one of Steve McQueen's last films, The Hunter. I got lucky and picked up Mother when Overstock.com had it on sale (briefly) for $10 a few years ago.

And as most readers of this thread probably already know, it seems Sony has pushed back the release of Modern Romance to May 2nd.

I didn't know that it was pushed back, I haven't paid much attention recently. Ironically, I thought to myself that I should pick up Modern Romance today. There goes that idea. I hate when a studio announces something only to push it back. Don't announce it if you are going to change it anyway. This Sucks!
