Help Me Pick Out a Center Channel

Hey guys, I've been in the market for a center channel now for a while for my home theater but never got around to it till now. I've got a 36 Sony Wega w/Klipsch SF-2 floor standing speakers. Now I know the center channel is important as it carries a large amount of dialouge etc etc and I should listen to it but the ones I'm interested in are hard to demo b/c they are either out of production or not in stores.

The one that I originally wanted is the one that was part of the surround sound "package", which is the Klipsch SC-1. But that is no longer made even though I can still get it on ebay and select stores. But the other 2 I'm thinking about is the Klipsch SC.5 or the Klipsch C2. I beleive the C2 is the "replacement" or upgraded version of the SC 1. For you audio enthusiasts which one would you recommend? They are all similiar in price but I don't have enuff know how to know if the newer C2 is better than the older speakers. Do I play it safe and get the SC 1 b/c it "matches" the floor standing speakers or would I be short changing myself by not looking at the newer center channels? Thanks

Either the Sc-1 or the c2 well work fine. I voted for the c2 at first since I went to Klipsch and saw it was the center for the F-2.

Then I noticed you actually had the older SF-2 so I think the Sc-1 would be a better match since it uses the same tweeter. The c2 will work if you can not find the Sc-1.

I think the sc.5 would not be a good match.

Klipsch tends to match well across generations if you stay in the same product line. The Synergy series should all match well. The Ref 3/5 series should all match. The Ref 7 series should all match. These all have predecessors before they went to this Synergy/Reference naming scheme, which should match, too. (can't remember those names)

Personally I'd recommend the RC-25, or RC-35. As Spiky said they should sound fine with the SF-2s you have (although possibly a little louder so you'll want to turn down the center on your receiver). Because these are still in production you can bring them home and check them out to make sure they're what you're looking for.
