Opinions/Reviews of the JVC HD-ILA Series?

I'm finally considering a widescreen TV purchase around the 1st quarter 2006. I haven't done much looking, but have calculated that I probably don't want anything bigger than a 52" screen. I've been hearing about the 3-chip sets lately and was hoping someone had some information. The only sets I've seen that feature the technology are the JVC's, specifically the HD527BP6. That definitely fits the budget, so I think something comparable in PQ would have to fall near that price range ($2K - $2.5K).

The first time I saw a HD-ILA display I thought it was the best looking TV I had ever viewed. Definetly a nice system, very good color and contrast.

anyone know how the HD-ILA is for playing games on since I will be using the TV for HD gaming via a XBOX 360. right now I am looking at a sony 50a10 3lcd tv but I am curious about this set even though it is a bit more money.

Thanks for the reply. At least I have some time to mull this over. With the Good Guys recent 'clearance' sale, I still find most of their prices to be higher than just about any place else. The search continues...

I came across some older reviews of this series (maybe the "G" series) that showed some concerns on both lamp-life and fan noise. Did you run across anything like that while you were researching the JVC?

Honestly, my lamp did die after a few months (replaced free by JVC), but as far as fan noise, I have the set in a relatively large and open room, and unless I listen for it I don't hear it.
