I am trying to find a horror movie that is not too scary
I am hoping to watch a horror movie tonight but I need to find one that isnt very scary since one of the girls watching with us refuses to watch a scary movie. I still want to keep with the horror theme since it is Halloween but looking for something that is not very scary. thanks for any info

If you mean not scary, but still meant for adults and not kiddies, some of the weaker Stephen King films will fit well; NEEDFUL THINGS particularly comes to mind.

Doesn't get creepy till maybe the last half hour or so. Hopefully by then the girl who doesn't like horror will be a) asleep or b) too drunk to care.

Not too scary is relative ... I'm not a real horror buff, but here are some for you to consider. Most of these seem to be older titles.
Some very mild spoilers below:
Psycho is really pretty mild compared to today's movies. What, three scenes of shocks?
Salem's Lot (original) was made for TV so it doesn't go beyond PG shocks. It's pretty long though (I like it).
Any of the early Universal horrors are pretty low key. Frankenstein, Dracula, The Mummy, etc.
Cat People (Schrader version). I don't even think of this as a horror movie at all ... maybe an atmospheric thriller? It's got lots of nudity so not suitable for all audiences ...
The Hunger ... ditto.
Them! has some scares, more science fiction than horror ... pretty tame.
Captain Kronos, Vampire Hunter. An oddity from Hammer ... not really that scary, but nice atmosphere and settings. A good swordfight finale.
Quatermass and the Pit. Another Hammer horror with a sci-fi bent. Effective at being creepy while little action goes on, then all hell breaks loose (literally) at the end. This showed up on broadcast TV for years with no cuts I believe, so it's PG all the way. A character does get burned to death pretty graphically. Solid movie all the way around.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Both versions have their merits.
Early episodes of The Outer Limits original series. Most of these have about 10 minutes of plot stretched out over 50 minutes, but are great at building up a creepy atmosphere of dread. Not all are horror based but The Galaxy Being and The Sixth Finger are pretty good for starters.
Similarly, episodes of the original Twilight Zone.

Army of Darkness-Funny & more of a comedy than a horror movie-I HATE most horror movies and this done didn't scare me at all.
Nightmare Before Christmas-I'm sure everybody has already seen this, though
The Village-A few scares, but ultimately I wasn't scared more than once or twice in the whole film. (sort of like the Blair Witch-A lot of buildup, but nothing really happened in the scenes)

Could someone please explain to me the point in watching a horror movie that isn't scary, or doesn't at least try to scare?
I thought the entire point of the genre was to get the viewer to express that emotion.
Ummm, how about Gremlins?

I agree with Shaun of the Dead. It's an authentic horror/zombie flick with a lot more charm to it.
Additionally, The Wicker Man, Audition, and Haute Tension

You could always go with Cat's Eye......It's based on a couple of Stephen Kings stories (a weird place that helps you quit smoking, a guy who is forced to climb around a ledge and a little girl with a cat)....not very scary, but some of the stories are a little creepy
