Alias "Out of the Box" 10-27-05

Spoiler:
Sydney and Tom discover that Renée has stolen the cryogenic-type container, and they find themselves under siege by mercenaries who want the container's contents. Meanwhile, Sloane is forced to take matters into his own possibly devious hands to get himself reinstated into APO and to continue his quest to find a cure for daughter Nadia.

The best part of last year's show was the relationship between Nadia and Sydney. I know Nadia is in a coma but did the actress who plays that character leave the show. With sydney's pregnacy Nadia would be the perfect replacement. rachel nichols and amy acker are nice eye candy but... nichols character is not a field operative and acker's is seemingly evil. neither a replacement for sydney. the show was best when she was human in the first two season with friends and an outside life. now without her friends and nadia and even vaughn who i could never really stand, she seems like a psycho pregant woman running around risking the life of her baby, as people beat her and shoot at her.

I like Mia Maestro, but I thought those scenes last season in Syd's apartment with Nadia, and Weiss as a possible love interest, were a bit forced. Best part of the 4th season was Lena Olin's grand re-entry in the final two episodes.

Hope tonite's show is as good as last week's.

ABC is creating ads/banners that don't even include Jennifer Garner? Oh how things have changed...

I swear to God, the local ABC station must be the worst on the planet. I just went to watch the HD recording on my DVR and it's got a solid tone throughout the entire episode. No audio of the show, just a solid tone like you hear on the emergency broadcast test signals. This is the second episode they've screwed up this season!

Really liked this episode. I miss Nadia but I've really warmed up to Rachel. And I'm really looking forward to next week's ep. This show keeps on feeling more and more like season 1 Alias. Now if only Rachel had friends outside of APO.

being that i missed most of season 4, why was Sloane in prison, and how indeed did Nadia get into a coma?

I hope so too, although I wonder if he'll really be some sort of "double agent", by pretending to be in league with the bad guys. That would be disappointing

Not bad. And while I enjoyed watching Rachel's "girls" in the trunk last week, i'd rather it had been Mia.

Those scenes seemed forced. Their relationship came out of nowhere and I didnt find it believable. I dont remember reading whether she was canned or she decided not to come back but I did read she probably wont be back at all which is ashame. Maybe she is concentrating on movies (She was in Motorcycle Diaries) and she is in the remake of the Poseidon Adventure.

meh

The Sloane scenes were good.

favorite part

"My mother always said if someone's worth shooting once, they're worth shooting twice"

"I'm sorry I never met her. She sounds like my kind of woman"

I thought the direction was pretty poor, even for a TV episode. The siege was pretty badly directed, and the flow of tension from that situation was nil.

But I do like Sloane probably playing both sides, something he's more than apt to do to his advantage and for his own purpose (and it's not just to cure Nadia).

Rachel and Marshall continue to provide good comic relief, mainly from Marshall finding out how sharp Rachel really is, and she'll probably be able to teach him a thing or two down the line.

It's definitely better than the 1st half of last season. Still probably one of my top 10 shows.

I love having Sloane playing both sides, especially because you know he's going to bring it.

Alias was third for the 8pm ratings behind Survivor and Joey. At least its not dead last like last week. Its still the top ranked show for ABC on Thursday.

I missed the episode where Racheal was introduced and I just caught up on the 2 previous episodes this morning. I have to say that I'm really digging this season. I like the Racheal character. Sloane is back to being smarmy. The new guys not all together bad. And the new bad guys are really interesting. I say it's the best the show has been in a while.

My recording cut off towards the very end - did anything happen after Sloane entered the APO?

Thanks.
