Any reviews/opinions on the Skyworth HVD-3050 (or other region free)?

I can never figure out if region free player info goes here or in the Intern'l forum...

I currently have a region free portable but it only does stereo out and I want something "nicer" to connect up to my Sony plasma. Looking around a bit two that seem to be attractive are

Skyworth HVD-3050 - https://www2.setssl.com/~hivizone/dv.../3050/3050.htm

Giec GK-3288 - https://www2.setssl.com/~hivizone/dv...288/gk3288.htm

A lot of people seem to like the earlier version of the Skyworth and most of the reviews I found of this one seem to be favorable as well. The Giec is newer and there doesn't seem to be as much info out there. From some of the reading though it sounds a little "glitchy"/more "hands on" might be required.

Anyway in case no one has heard of the above or has other recommendations my requirements are component video out to hook up to the plasma, progressive scan and the 720/1080 would be a plus, 5.1 channel audio out is required since that's the last input I have left on my receiver.

TIA
