HD-Ready Question

Two part question for anyone who is willing to help me out.

One, HD-Ready, so I understand that this means I need a converter? If all I want to do is Play games/watch movies, Considering I will be doing this with the xbox 360, does that mean I will still need a converter to get HD quality imaging? (i dont care about tv one way or another honestly)

Also, considering that, Im looking at 3 tv's, currently at Costco in my budget range.

Maxent - 799.99

Proview 999.99

Samsung 799.99

which one would be best do you guys think? i appreciate the help.

No but you will need whatever cables the xbox requires to send the hd signal.

I have no opinion on which of those sets would be best for playing games that aren't out yet and may or may not be true high definition.

I have the 26 inch version of the Samsung and LOVE it. HDTV looks great on it, as does Xbox in 480p. From the pictures I have seen, the xbox 360 kiosks in stores will be using that same tv (the 23 inch sammy), so it should be a good match.

"HD-Ready" just means it does not have an HD tuner to receive digital TV channels with an antenna. Doesn't mean anything to sources that are not TV channels, like games. They work just fine.

As Brian hinted, you will only get HD quality from HDTV or from games that are HD to start. DVDs will be upconverted, not true HD, and you can see the difference.
