Been a long time, but I see you guys are still the best source for info on the web...so here's the request:
I'm looking for the best Noise Canceling Headphones on the market now. I travel a lot for work, usually on LONG flights accross the globe, so this will be an investment for me.

I've had the Bose (Series 2) and a pair of $50 Aiwa's. Both did a great job, the Aiwa's were louder, but because the Bose sits OFF your ear, and surrounds it, they do the best job.

If you travel alot, just get the Bose.

I use some E-6i "in the ear" type. I like these on a flight because they keep the air pressure constant in my ears. But they do get uncomfortable.

That is the reason I like the Bose, since it's off the ear, they are VERY comfortable!

Forget the Bose, get the Sennheiser PXC 300.

1. It's cheaper
2. 2 year warannty
3.Sound quality is way better
4. Comfortable, if you put them on right. IE not on your lobe of your ears.

I have the same pair, and I like them a lot. It does a pretty good job of cancelling noise, as well as boosting the bass end. It doesn't sound too bassy, either, just giving it depth. They are very comfortable, and fold up into a carrying pouch.

As someone who has never tried noise-cancelling headphones, just how well do they work? Basically, I have a riding lawn mower that is pretty loud; I wear the regular kind of hearing protection that blocks out sound, but don't put out any audio.

Would noise cancelling headphones be good enough to use to block out this kind of noise, while providing audio, or are they more suited for blocking just general quieter background noise?
