Criterion to release Whit Stillman's Metropolitan (1990) in 2006

So says the Criterion newsletter here.

(Actually it says "Whit Stillman's debut feature finally gets its coming out on DVD, early 2006" if you are a stickler for accuracy.)

This is incredibly good news for all fans of this movie! (Both of us.)

Good news in that newsletter on the confirmation of a new edition of Playtime, possibly as part of a Jacques Tati boxset.

If recent rumours are to be believed(circulating from the Criterion forums) will look forward to confirmation in 2006 of them preparing to release Jodorowsky's El Topo/Holy Mountain

Yeah, I really hope Criterion releases Last Days of Disco. With the current DVD long out of print, we are due for a new one.

Great news on Metropolitan. I've been waiting for word on a release of this for years. If Criterion could follow this up with Last Days that be wonderful. Can't wait to get word on the extras.

The fact that I could then make a nice profit selling my OOP Last Days would just an added bonus.

I've never seen Metropolitan, but I love Last Days of Disco and Barcelona. This is a definite blind buy for me.

This topic seems redundant in light of the January 2006 Criterions thread

Why? This isn't a January 2006 title.

Great. One of my most wanted movies. I kind of gave up on it.
