What TYPE of Show seems to be Missing from this TV Season ?

To me it's the half hour fun brainless family sitcom.

There's still Two and a half Men and Still Standing but i miss 8 Simple Rules.

There seems to be too many serialised shows with storylines so complex that you can't afford to miss any. I like them too but there's too many of them!

Need more stand alone type shows

It's not a traditional family sitcom, but How I Met Your Mother seems like it should be up your alley.

I'm missing a superhero/fantasy type of show along the lines of Buffy, Angel, or Lois & Clark.

The newsmagazines seem to have taken a real pounding these last couple of years. I don't miss them, but that wasn't the question.

Sounds like you need to check out UPN and the WB. My Name is Earl fits the above description and it is funnier than the 3 shows you listed combined. The Office fits the bill as well. Scrubs whenever it returns.

The only thing I am missing this season is Sipowitz.

Yep. When was the last time there wasn't a Bochco show on network TV? I definitely miss it and Over There just doesn't do it for me.

I'd like to amend my answer to also include shows like The OC. I'm not fond at all of the imposter in its timeslot. The characters look familiar, but that's where it ends.
