How are you handling your conflicts?

I know many of us have Tivo, but even then there times where you may not have multiple tivo's and have to sacrifice a show. I try to catch the premiere of pretty much every show since getting a Tivo since you never know what may surprise you. The few conflicts I have had with new shows involve NBC, and it seems they are having encores on their other channels such as Sci-fi and Bravo. If I needed it, I changed the season pass to those channels instead. Has anybody had to drop a show before it even started? Any problems? I guess this is sort of venting/advice/selection thread.

One upcoming conflict is E-Ring, Lost and Criminal Minds, I think. I am going to get around that by using my SD Tivo for E-Ring. I've also got Invasion, Law and Order and CSI:NY on that night too. I'm on the fence as to whether I'll do the same for CSI:NY or just dump it altogether. I wasn't into it much last year and I don't know if I have the patience to watch it again.

Luckily, the HDTivo is a dual tuner, so I rarely have to worry about there being 3 shows on at once.

E-Ring is a show I moved to tape on Bravo I believe. I don't have HD yet.

I have a ton of conflicts, and the only HD PVR available isn't dual tuner. I try to catch other programs during other time zones, but a lot of times, they just don't air correctly.

Last year, this would've been a problem. Anytime I had three shows on at the same time, I had to skip one. But, I recently got a TiVo DVD Recorder on the cheap and won't be having that problem this year.

The hardest problem isn't what not to watch, it's what to record in HD and what not to.

I just come across the shows I can't watch live/record bit by bit and see if I like them or not.

2-tuner HD-DVR + 2 Replay-TVs = no conflicts.

On the rare occasion that there are 3 programs I want to watch at once, I'll record two on the HD Tivo and use an antenna and the TV's tuner to (ugh) watch one live. So far the TV Gods seem to be smiling on me though & I haven't picked up many conflicts.

2-tuner HD-DVR + 2 Replay-TVs = no conflicts.
I still have conflicts with 2 dual-tuners and west coast feeds. So I have another TiVo.

I only have two conflicts so far this season: Arrested Development vs. Wife Swap and Reunion vs. The Apprentice. I'll most likely watch AD live and acquire Reunion through other means. I was hoping for encores of Wife Swap on ABC Family and The Apprentice on CNBC, but it looks like I'm out of luck.

I hope TiVo comes out with a dual-tuner cablecard model by 2006 like they're saying.

I don't have a Tivo, just several VCRs. To me, having two shows on the same time is so common I don't even consider it a conflict. Three-plus conflicts are a plenty, even. And if I end up liking Night Stalker I'll actually have a 5 show conflict (CSI, Apprentice, Reunion, Everwood) for the first time (at least until something gets cancelled or moved).

I have two VCRs in my apartment, plus my computer can act as a Tivo. I also have access to additional VCRs if needbe. My main problem nights will be Tuesdays and Thursdays. Some shows are re-aired at different times or on different channels (Apprentice, for instance) so I may resort to that as well.

Now that Head Cases sucked, the only conflict I have left is Tuesdays at 9pm: Amazing Race, Supernatural and My Name is Earl/The Office. Supernatural was re-played this week on Thursday, so if they do that next week also I will be ok.

I have 2 Tivos, but one is strictly for the kids. If there are more than 2 shows I want on at the same time, I choose to drop one. If it turns out to be a hit that I should have watched, there's always p2p. That's how I got into Veronic Mars and House, and now they're #2 and #3 on my Tivo this year.

I had 2 instances of conflicts.

I have a standalone Tivo and a dual tuner DirecTivo. I missed taping "Everybody Hates Chris" and Alias since I haven't seen it since episode 1. Though I do have the first 3 season boxsets of Alias. I'll just watch it as they come out on DVD I guess.

Tuesday is a busy night for me. My first preemptive move is to drop Bones.

I have 3 DVD recorders; however, I'm still going to encounter problems, especially on Tuesday nights. The reason is that different stations end/start at slightly different times and I don't want to miss even a minute of one of the shows, and I always pad the beginnings and ends. (Thus one recorder which is recording a show until padded 9:08 obviously cannot be used to record a 9:00 show on a different channel.) I have it all written out and configured on a erase board, but I think I have to catch "Nip/Tuck" on the rerun, or it won't work.)

What's all this talk about 2 and 3 way conflicts? You people don't have bigger conflicts than that? What about Thursday at 8? There's a decent show on every network during that time. I'm also interested in every show on Tuesday at 9. Even with 2 dual tuner dvr's I'll still have to make sure to watch some stuff live off a splitter and occasionally download some shows.

Yeah, some people just aren't as dedicated as we are.

Different people do have different tastes. I'm not interested in any show on a network Thursday at 8, except for Everybody Hates Chris.

Thursday at 8 p.m. EST is a 5-way log-jam for me, so it'll be 3 on ReplayTVs, and 2 on VCRs. That's the only time I'll need to use both of my VCRs, though I'll have to use 1 VCRs for about 3-4 other hours of the week.
