Out of the big 4 Sundance, Cannes, Venice, and toronto, which would be easiest to go to, since i would like to go to one of the festival's to see the next big indie film. I'm outside of baltimore, and also how would one be able to purchase tickets to a screening?,. and do you just pick the films you want to see, or does one pass get you into everything?

You forgot Berlin - it's on the same level as Cannes and Venice.
Cannes and Venice are outrageously expensive, and you can't get into any screenings as public. Heck, even for industry people it's next to impossible to see films!
Best bet is Toronto. It's what I'm attending now. Things are affordable here, and there are lots of public screenings available. You'll have to buy individual tickets unless you can prove you're in the industry or press, then you pay for an all-access pass.

I have to admit that I haven't been to any of the four festivals you mentioned but it's my impression that Toronto is the more accesible (ticket wise). I do have to give props to the annual Palm Springs Film Festival which I found to be one of the most interesting and enjoyable film festivals I have attended.
