Shouldn't they have filmed a Canadian show for the R30 video?

Good to see Fogo working on this. I was highly impressed with the quality of the Harry Connick: Only You concert DVD (HD, 5.1). If the Rush discs get the same attention, we should be in for quite a treat!

Here's hoping that the R30 disc is anamorphic.

Exactly. Why they dropped this particular ball on the Rush In Rio set is beyond me. Perfect audio, crap video.

I don't think Fogo worked on that one. They must have just gotten the contract recently to work on the new one, plus all the previous shows (Stage Left, etc.).

From what I have heard not all the cameras were high def...especially the ones that were aimed at Neil's kit. The whole dvd and cd was done pretty last minute with very little planning.

More News:

The R30 Hi–Def DVD will be released the second or third week in November and will contain the complete show. He knew nothing about any other material that may be on the disc.
Peart’s DVD An Anatomy of a Drum Solo is expected to be released in either December or January, and was filmed in the Catskills with 5 cameras.
Peart’s new book should also be out in January.

Sweet Sassy Molassy!

Rock Group Rush Set For DVD Release and New Album

September 19, 2005 4:01 a.m. EST

Douglas Maher - All Headline News Staff Reporter

Toronto, Canada (AHN) - Rush fans are rejoicing after a lull in action from the band in 2005, taking nearly a year off to focus on guitarist Alex Lifeson's trial in Naples, Florida and work on a plethora of upcoming DVD projects for the end of 2005 and throughout 2006.

"R:30-Rush Live In Frankfurt," is to be released on November 15. The DVD set will feature a full performance of the German show during the band's 30th Anniversary Tour in 2004. It will also feature a full length documentary on the history of Rush that has a running time of just over one hour and exclusive lost live footage of the band from the early 1980s.

Drummer Neil Peart will release an instructional DVD titled "Anatomy of A Drum Solo" to be released through Hudson Music on December 13. The DVD will contain over two hours of Peart playing through numerous versions of drum solos he has performed for the better part of thirty years.

Rush plans to begin reissuing their VHS catalog on DVD with the 1981 concert film Exit Stage Left..., 1984's Grace Under Pressure Tour, and a performance recorded in 1988, A Show of Hands. The DVD's will be offered in a special box set and then individually.

If that was not enough news for Rush fans, the band has reportedly begun the process of pre-production and are in the early stages of writing for their new album which should be ready for release sometime in 2006 pending no delays.

So does that mean this isn't a "full performance?"

yeah- I'll still buy it, but that's pretty disappointing if it's not a full show. I hope the mix on the CDs are better than the crappy sound mix from the Rush in Rio show...

Supposedly the reason why it isn't the full performance is because of flubs during the omitied songs. I would rather them cut the songs than overdub them in the studio.
