Paramount is not releasing this. Here is the statement from DavisDVD:
"Paramount's Hustle & Flow and the box office dud The Island street on December 6th."
Same date, different studios.

I thought this was a great, enjoyable summer movie. In fact, much better than I expected. Of course, I had no expectations because there had been next to no marketing for it.

Yeah, even with 24 screens at my local AMC, this one disappeared pretty quickly, so I never got a chance to check it out, eventhough I was quite interested in checking it out. Michael Bay tends to disappoint on a lot of levels (and I'll probably never forgive him for Pearl Harbor), but I actually did want to see this one. I'll most likely rent it first though.

The ad in the latest edition of Video Business says:
"A Behind-The-Scenes Look At The Creation Of The Film's Incredible Action Sequences And Harrowing Stunts"
"Commentary With Director Michael Bay"
"And More"

I hope there's a Michael Caine/David Warner commentary!
OK, stupid moviegeek jokes aside, I thought this was a damn entertaining movie, and this is coming from a guy who'd rather sit through novocaine-free root canal than watch Bad Boys 2 or Pearl Harbor again.
I'm not surprised the movie "bombed" in the U.S., but I liked it a lot.
