I don't know if it's classic rock, but I would really like to have Buddy Holly's "New York" tapes. Right before he died, he recorded dozens of new songs acoustically while living in NYC. The recordings have been tied up in legal battles (as was all of Holly's music for decades) and has never been released. All of the critics who've heard the music say it's astoundingly good. I'm a huge Holly fan and it's killing me that I can't hear it. Any advice anyone?

I'd go for the Buckingham/Nicks one.. even though I, um, found a copy awhile back on the boardwalk in Wildwood, NJ at a place that doesn't exist anymore.

Also, I'd love a George Harrison anthology, with the rest of his b-sides and demos. From what I've read, he liked making demos and just leaving them be, there has to be a bunch of stuff he's never released.

Reissues/issues of old '50's rockabilly stuff would also be great. A complete Collins Kids, Eddie Cochran "On The Air", Johnny Burnett Trio, and I'm sure there's a bunch more I'd want!

Slightly off-topic, but an AC/DC career spanning hits compilation would be nice. I'm talking a 1 or 2 disc set, that covers their whole career. (not just the Bon Scott years) Everything out right now is either a massive boxed set or a live set.

Actually, the Rock 'N' Roll Trio is only on the first CD of this mammoth set, simply because it's all that exists of them -- they had only three studio recording sessions before breaking up in 1957. The rest of the 9-CD boxed set consists of Johnny and Dorsey Burnette solo material, which is, um, considerably less inspiring.

If you're gunning for a concentrated dose of Rock 'N' Roll Trio goodness, what you want is the Rockabilly Boogie CD on the Bear Family label:

That actually seems more along the lines of what I'd be looking for. I didn't realize the trio was so short lived.

But also, another group that needsa giant box set of unreleased/rare/live material is Oingo Boingo. There's got to be volumes of stuff laying around!
