The Dukes of Hazzard REVIEW Thread

Couldn't find a review thread, only a trailer thread which isn't the same

Really quite a fun movie, didn't take itself too seriously, borderlined on being too spooflike at points but yeah definitely true to the TV series enough.

Jess Simpson was smokin as were many of the other girls in the movie.

Had some funny scenes and loved seeing the Dukes out of Hazzard county for a bit of the movie.

Recommended for fans of the TV show but honestly, i'm not sure if there's anything there for everyone else

While it wasn't perfect it was still fun. By the end of the flick I felt like I had a good time.

Highs:

THE KILLER SOUNDTRACK Lotsa great classic rock, southern rock, and AC/DC.
Lynda Carter
Burt Reynolds
Willie Nelson
the car jumps
I hate to admit it....(Jessica Simpson's look in this film)...normally I think she's ugly.
"stuck in Atlanta traffic"

Lo points:

kinda dragged a near the end but it wasn't bad.
Not enough Lynda Carter

Isn't opening a reviews thread a week after the movie opened a little late?

I will not see this in the theaters, just because this is one to wait for DVD for. It just doesn't demand to be seen on the big screen, but I do want to see it, especially since the director brought us Super Troopers before.

I was thinking the same thing plus most people have been posting their review of this movie on the trailer thread.

Why would they want to do that? Why not open a review thread last week?

My guess is that it has to do with the "incident" with the deleted movie review threads a while back.

I never intended to see this movie, not even on DVD, but a friend of mine dragged me to it. I have to admit that it was better than I thought it was going to be. If you have any like for the work of Seann William Scott and/or Johnny Knoxville then you'll like this movie. Scott can be damn funny when he wants to be and he really carried this movie. There were plenty of laughs (all stupid humor, no highbrow stuff here folks), car chases (the escape from Atlanta was the best), and hotness (mainly care of one Jessica Simpson). It's not a great movie, it won't make you think, but if you're looking for a fun way to pass 2 hours, you could do worse.

If that isn't a ringing endorsement, I don't know what is.

I've got an idea...why not post reviews in this thread instead of threadcraps of "why is this thread here?".

1. the OP said why he started this thread
2. it'll get merged if the Mods see fit

I guess I never noticed. Personally, I look for opinions about movies in review threads, not in a trailer thread posted months before the movie!

Trigger mate, in your situation, you have permission to take someone else's girlfriend

go by yourself or even better, with some of your buddies. Going to movies like this with girlfriends and wives can be a drag anyway

Then go by yourself and spit at anyone who looks at you for being at the movies by yourself! Needing a date/pal/human accessory in order to go see a movie you'd like to see is silly. It's like needing to ask permission to enjoy life.

Went last night and thought it was great big fun. The cast was great. I don't know if I would have picked Burt for Boss Hogg, but Burt is Burt, I can live with that one too. This will look and sound awesome on my home theater

I watched the first hour of it. It was more than enough to warrant a negative review.

I'm pretty easy with films, I love plenty of bad movies, but Dukes was annoyingly bad and insulting as it didn't even try to cater to the fans of the show. They probably figured they were too busy collecting their Social Security Checks. Poo on them.

To each their own.

I found the movie just as silly/stupid as the TV show with a bit of "cheeky fun" added in.

Well - as a fan of Broken Lizard, I'm still anxious to see it for myself to make my own mind up about it.

I thought it was ok.Wasn't as funny as i expected it to be.It kinds seemed like they were trying too hard to be funny sometimes. And i agree that it dragged toward the end.But overall it was a decent effort.

I went to see it because it had "real" car effects, not CGI. If somehow I could've sent my $ to the studio with this note:

"Please use the profits to fund another movie with big non-CGI effects. Do not use it for another Jessica Simpson movie or another TV series remake."

Alas, I can't do that. I thought the first hour was pretty dumb and flat. There weren't really any jokes in it and I don't think I laughed at all. In the second hour they finally put in some really interesting stuff (like the Atlanta fish-out-of-water situation) and a few odd things that seemed to be more along the lines of Broken Lizard-type humor (the Labor Day remark, etc). Also, the second hour had nudity.

It wasn't quite as bad as Club Dread, but about on par with the weaker moments of Super Troopers.
