Lost: Exclusive DVD

From TVshowsonDVD

Lost - Companion Book Coming In Sept. with Exclusive DVD!
Posted by David Lambert - 8/08/2005

One of our readers, who only identified himself as "Michael", tipped us off overnight to a really cool-looking item that is up for pre-order at Amazon.com. It is a Book, The Lost Chronicles : The Official Companion Book. 176 pages long, it ships on September 28th from Hyperion Books. The description bills this item as "filled with a detailed episode guide and a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the show, the fully illustrated book offers plot twists and backstories that will help fans uncover the mysteries of Lost. Also included are reflections and anecdotes from cast members, writers, and executive producer/creator J. J. Abram that readers won't find anywhere else."

So why are we talking about this here at TVShowsOnDVD? Because this trade paperback book also "comes with an exclusive hour-long DVD containing unaired scenes from the show"! With the use of the word "exclusive", it sounds like these scenes will not necessarily be among those included on the season set's extras. If so, then it seems like this might be something that will be a must-have item to accompany the 9/6 release of Lost - The Complete 1st Season. Amazon's cost for the book is $12.89 (the SRP is $18.95). Thanks, Michael, for letting us know about this. Here's the cover art:
Cover art can be found at the link above.

Are you the "michael" that tipped them off???

Anyway, good news. I don't know if I would be interested in the book but who knows. The dvd would be nice though. I wonder if the book would have much value on ebay??? Probably not.

I'll wait to see if these same extras show up on an "exclusive" in-store promotional disc, like Best Buy seems to offer all the time.

Alias didn't something like this the first or second year it was on. Well, I can't remember if the DVD had "new" footage, but it did have a DVD...

Or an "exclusive" one-hour TV special promoting the second season ...

Maybe it's only "exclusive" until the season one set is released?

No, the season 1 set is out 9/6 and according to the TSoD article, the book's release is scheduled for 9/28.

from another thread....

I just bought it last night. Let me pop it in the player....

It has the ubiquitous trailers for season 1 and season 2, 4 deleted scenes (3 of them exclusive to this book/DVD, including a great one with Claire and Danielle), Welcome to Oahu (about 7:30 long, same as disc 7 I 'm pretty sure), Designing a Disaster (about 5:40 long, same as disc 7 I'm pretty sure), and Get Lost:Inside the DVD ( a new featurette?, about 2:45 long).

So, it does NOT have an hour of exclusive deleted scenes, but it does appear to have at least 4 short exclusive bits.

Also, don't forget about the exclusive mini-CD that came with TV Guide a few weeks ago.

The ship date says 9/28, but I saw this in two local bookstores last night (B&N and B. Dalton), so I think it's already widely available...just FYI...
