The 3 disc set will sell for $39.98 US ($54.98 CAN), and hit stores on November 29. The set will feature full frame video, with English/French Surround tracks, and English/French/Spanish subtitles.

Yes. Episodes 11-13 are the basis of the Family Guy movie coming out on DVD also as a separate release.
The only thing I don't like about this announcement is SRP for this set. I think $39.98 SRP for 13 episodes is too much.
The Volume 1 and 2 featured twice as many episodes for the same price.

Fox needs to just wait and put the entire season out at the same time. This is obviously a way to try and get more money, but it won't work on me.
All those episodes could easily fit on 2 discs.... right now they only have 4 episodes on each disc, which amounts to less than an hour and a half of video.

I'm going to have to pass on this. A $40 suggested retail price might be ok for 13 eps of a 40+ minute drama but not a 20 minute cartoon (no matter how much I love it). I'll probably just get the movie and leave it at that.

I think people are forgetting that this is MSRP that we're talking about. Who sells at MSRP? FYE, Media Play, etc. If you go to one of the "ye olde house of over-price" for your new releases, you deserve to get ripped off.
Let's take another Fox release, 24 Season 3 and see how it sells.

DeepDiscountDVD.Com: $48.85
Bestbuy.com: $57.99
So I think it'd be safe to say that DeepDiscount's price will be about $30.
That being said, I agree that it's stupid to release half a season, especially when 3 eps will already be out as the movie.

Sorry, I have to chime in here: This is the only show in history to be resurrected long after cancellation. It was brought back for one reason and one reason only : DVD sales. Now you people are surprised that Fox is trying to make some money off the new run of episodes? Hell, if I were at Fox, that would be the first thing I'd do. And compared to the crap HBO pulled with the final season of SaTC, this is very charitable.

To be fair (and since I hate Family Guy, I hate to be fair), calling this only a partial season is somewhat arbitrary and not even very accurate.
Fox ordered 35 new episodes of Family Guy. 13 of them were used for a summer run. Then it'll run the other 22 episodes starting in September. Now, all these episodes are part of the same production cycle, and Fox seems to be treating them all as part of one "season," but it makes just as much sense to treat the summer episodes as one season, and the fall-winter-spring episodes as another season. Which is what the DVD department is doing, and it makes complete sense.
And the price, while high for 13 episodes, isn't really unusual. Futurama and King of the Hill both had that same list price for their 13-episode first seasons.
Whew! All this FG defending is making me ill.
But the only thing that strikes me as crass is releasing the phony "movie" when the episodes that comprise it will be released again two months later.

What makes you guys think they're going to release the full season as one set? It makes no sense that they'd release vol 3 as a half season, vol 4 as a half season, and then go back and release vol 3 again as the full season. Where would that put vol 5?
And regarding the "movie episodes," keep in mind there is a lot of footage from the movie that isn't in the episodes. Namely the bookends (for those who haven't seen the movie, there are segments at the beginning and end that show the "premiere" of the movie). Plus, as someone else mentioned, there's the censoring that will go on in the episode versions.
So both vol 3 and the movie are definite buys for me.

This makes perfect sense to me. It is Fox, and they are in the business of making money. They will take my money on 11.29 for the set because I'm all over it
