Penn & Teller Bull****: The Best 8/01/05
Showtime, 9:00pm CDT (repeated one hour later)
This looks like an inauspicious end to an inauspicious season. In other words, neither this episode nor this season is "The Best."
We are constantly told that we can have "the best": the best televisions, the best q-tips, the best cars, the best vacations… even the best spouses. The problem is, there's no such thing as "the best!" It's a constantly moving target. And there is always someone who has something better than you do.
As we explore America's insatiable pursuit of "the best," from day-to-day household items to lifestyle experiences, we'll see that the harder we try to get it, the more miserable we make ourselves. It's bullshit that's making us crazy!

Nothing much in the revelation dept but the 'chef' and the return of my favorite waiter had me laughing throughout. I know some people who would have been great guinea pigs for this.

The biggest disappointment to me by far this season was blowing the environmental show (which has been my favorite in each of the first two seasons).
As for this episode, maybe we will never find the best. But I think we have found the worst. The worst P&T episode in the worst P&T season is: "The Best." Even with obvious padding it came in at less than 25 minutes, seemed like an hour and was almost entirely pointless. It's like they're not even trying any more except to fulfill the (minimum) requirements of their contract.
I suspect there will be a 4th season. Please, P&T, get back on track and do what we know you are capable of.
