Double Indemnity R2 UK Universal
Review of the UK release, with a comparison to the previous OOP R1 edition, on DVDBeaver.
Pretty disheartening to see it's a total barebones editions (not even a subtitle track!), considering the fine jobs done recently with other film titles by Fox (Laura) or Warners (the Film Noir Collection).
At least picture quality is good.

I have it and while the picture itself is beatiful, the pal speedup is very evident in McMurry's voice. Since I have seen the film on many occasions I am familiar with the sound of his voice and on the R2 disc his voice is definately higher than what I remember. This is also the case in the R2UK version of Ransom. As R1's SE was released in a non-anamorphic version I opted for the anamorphic R2 disc and Mel's voice is definately clipping off at a speed much higher than the R1 equivalent. In all the R2UK discs that I have I have never experienced this before. It can be a bit annoying at the onset but you get used to it (at least I am ) and get on with the film
