Matthau vs. Thorton in (The) Bad News Bears?

Who do you think played a better Buttermaker in The Bad News Bears?

Both know how to play drunk real well. It was hard but I liked Walter Matthau a little bit better.

Matthau and R-rating without a doubt.

The original was rated PG. The new one is PG-13.

It just goes to show you, ratings were looser in the past, not harsher. People always seem to complain that the ratings system today is too lax. It's amazing what films got away with and still got a PG.

Probably because there was no PG-13.

Congrats to Billy Bob on the effort but the vote goes to Walter.

I wanted to like the re-make, and maybe my memory of the original is filtered with rose colored glasses, but I hated the Billy Bob version.

And I'm a huge Billy Bob fan.

The sequel just did nothing for me. ...except for reminding me of how much I enjoyed the original, and showing me a few horrible child actors, including the 2 leads.

I just bought the triple pack of the originals today, so that means we'll have a special edition of the original announced within days. I can't believe they released it without any extras whatsoever.
