The most underrated movie ever thread!

I was thinking of "Road to Paradise" recently. It's got some great acting by Joaquin Phoenix, Anne Heche, and Vince Vaughn. It was so good and effecting.

My pick for an underrated gem.

Yours?

I can personally think of two films starring Mickey Rourke:
Michael Cimino's Year of the Dragon
Alan Parker's Angel Heart

Both films are uncompromising and brutal in their depictions that brings the plot forwards.

Too bad Year of the Dragon was highly criticized for its so-called racist views on Asians (and I am part-Asian myself).

And Angel Heart got its infamous recognition due to Lisa Bonet's sex scene while she was still part of the family-fun filled TV Cosby Show.

The Machinist

I was surprised by how good this was considering I hadn't heard raving reviews about it.
