Stealth - any thoughts?

Don't see a thread about it here, so here it is.

Anybody got any thoughts on this new "Top Gunish" film? Will it be good enough as a cheap popcorn flick? It looks to be fairly exciting with lots of eye candy.

I thought the trailer looked pretty good. I hadn't heard anything about the movie previously, so I had no expectations. Now I do. It looks like a solid summer "popcorn" movie.

Trailers can be deceptively good sometimes, but this movie does look like it should be good.

It looks decent, but will probably have too much CGI. This movie just has a second rate quality and feel to it. Even the movies that Rob Cohen has made that I liked (xXx, Daylight, Dragonheart), I thought they were just above average movies.

It's going to be loud and proud, given it's a Rob Cohen film, but I suspect it'll slip into a popcorn flick with lots of flight-related special effects.

Probably a fun, frothy and light riff on STAR TREK's "The Ultimate Computer", with (as mentioned before) WAY too much unconvincing CGI. Looks good for a bargain matinee.

I'm all for summer popcorn flix where you shut off your brain at the door, but even this looks horrible.

I might have to see it on DVD just because of Jessica Biel, though.

Every Rob Cohen movie I've seen was disapointing if not completely awful. Yet, I still find them watchable, but not good.

I dont' expect this to be any better. Though I imagine stuff with get blowed up real good. That's a plus.

The trailer sounded great, with lots of nice deep booming exlposions. Should be an enjoyable timewaster.

Trailer just looks awful to me, so I'll pass on it. Top Gun meets 2001 meets XXX.

Amen.

This is the worst film I've seen this year so far. I honestly thought ALONE IN THE DARK could not be topped!

best buy is giving away free preview DVDs of stealth that also contains interviews and other filler, look for the display. Still does not look that good (but worth going in to get one anyway just to have the case!)

I got this summary off another site. Reading it makes the movie more absurd than the trailer made it out to be.

Spoiler:
Training with robot, Male Lead, Jessica Biel, and Jamie Foxx.
Robot does "cool stunt."
Jessica Biel is a pacifist in a fighter jet.
Robot gets struck by lightning.
Robot downloads mp3's and plays incubus.
Jamie Foxx fucks a transvestite.
Another fight against terrorists! Robot's still screwed, they send him out!
Terrorists surround themselves with innocents.
Robot says "haha, what the fuck ever" and destroys terrorists and innocents.
Robot goes off to kill more, Jamie Foxx tries to take him down with a missile (too close!) and flies into a mountain.
Jessica's plane wing malfunctions, falls off, plane self-destructs
Guys in charge of the plane project try to kill male lead.
Male lead kills everyone and saves robot from reprogramming.
Male lead and robot love each other and go to save Jessica.
Male lead kills guys trying to get Jessica with missiles. 2 men, with only assault rifles, taken out by missiles. ...
Male lead lands, Jessica and he are alright! BUT WHAT IS THIS
Helicopter comes up, robot suicides into it
End

I thought it looked like a potential rental but, if NeonGlow's summary is accurate, I'll wait 'til it airs on USA.

This movie just has junk written all over it. The trailer looks terrible. How many cliche lines can you cram into three minutes???

Is it just me, but doesn't this movie look like a live-action version of Macross Plus a bit?

All this is in the trailer so I don't know if this counts as SPOILER. The basic premise sounds good. Military comes up with a super stealth bomber that flys by itself and can turn invisible(visually). Super steath bomber goes haywire and starts firing missiles into major cities. It is flying somewhere over the U.S. but we can't find it because it is invisible to our radar and we can't see it because it is invisible. It could be anywhere, New York, L.A., Chicago, it could be flying over your town right now. Not a bad idea, just depends on the presentation.

Too bad that's not the premise.

No invisibility.

No missiles into major cities.

No US locales (except for a small bit in Alaska).

But the downloading music thing, mentioned in another post, is sadly true.

If that synopsis is true, then I might have to forego the free screening I have a pass to, as it looks like a waste of time.

I'd see it for free, but that's about as far as I'll go.

But everyone should pick up the soundtrack to hear the new Dredg song. Actually, forget the soundtrack, and pick up the Dredg album "Catch Without Arms".

I think if you win an oscar for the first time you have to follow it with a shitfest movie just to make some bread(think catwomen).
