Damage from chip in label on top of DVD?

Does having a chip in the label located on top of the DVD cause any damage or lead to DVD rot?

Unless the chip is deep enough to cut into the reflective aluminum layer, it shouldn't be a problem with regard to rot. Unlike CDs, the data on a DVD is in the middle and not just beneath the label.
